OUR STORY
Sauna culture has always felt restorative to me. Sauna hats, on the other hand, have always looked wildly unpleasant.
At some point, I decided they deserved better.
An extended exploration of Nepalese culture led me down some unexpected paths: monasteries, sound-healing coursework, bartering instruments, jewelry-making, culinary classes, and eventually, hat-making. Somewhere along the way, Saunaplants was born.
Beyond millinery duties, I'm often playing guitar and leading breath-work / vocal toning practices in saunas across NYC and beyond, usually with some sort of seasonal fruit or vegetable perched on my head... being cute, being safe.
Maybe it all traces back to growing up on a farm. There's something familiar about turning nature into something useful, playful, and beautiful. I'm just grateful my work with wool no longer involves shearing sheep.
Welcome to my Saunaplant Farm.
"Saunaplants is my attempt to bring a little more joy, personality, and story into the sauna. One plum, persimmon, or strawberry at a time."
